Inclusive Justice ADA Title II Training Series: Tapping into the Value of Support Person as a Critical ADA Accommodation (Webinar 6 of 6)
Courts across the nation grapple with the challenge of providing or allowing ‘support persons’ as an accommodation, which can be complicated and, at times, contentious. When executed effectively, this accommodation can ensure equitable access for court users with diverse disabilities, such as mental health conditions, learning disabilities, brain injuries, ADHD, and autism, placing these individuals at higher risk within the justice system. Achieving success with this accommodation involves careful consideration: determining the right individual for this role, addressing questions about access and functional needs, and preserving the integrity of court proceedings and programs. Effective strategies for implementing this vital accommodation will be examined, with particular emphasis on meeting the needs of individuals who are especially vulnerable when access is limited or denied.
This event is hosted by the Southeast ADA Center and it will be held on via Zoom.
